More Fimber/Thixendale Walks in early January 2020. I wanted to see how David Hockney’s “three trees” were getting along and was looking for a wintry pic of them. We walked west from the road junction at Burdale House Farm to get a picture of the famous three trees (sycamores), then, between Raisthorpe Manor and the village of Thixendale, north along the Centenary Way. I have included photos of the Hockney paintings so you can see DH’s imaginative reconstruction. At the junction of the Centenary Way and Yorkshire Wolds Way we turned east for a couple of miles, with views north to Wharram Percy and, in the distance, the Vale of Pickering. At the road back to Fimber we turned south for half a mile to rejoin the car at Burdale House. This is a nice round walk of about 5 miles. There are lots of footpaths around Thixendale, so much to explore in the future.
