Discovering the East Riding of Yorkshire on Foot

The East Riding of Yorkshire is an exceptionally beautiful and varied part of England, but hardly known to anyone but its residents. Its spine is the rolling Yorkshire Wolds, with its quite dry valleys, attractive villages, and magnificent towns. It is intersected by peaceful winding rivers, and its coastline, from rugged cliffs in the north to Spurn Point in the south, is unparalleled.

The walks included in this website have all been done. Because the terrain is generally gentle there is no need to warn that they may be too arduous. We supply an estimate of the length of each one in miles. Many of the walks included are round walks but because of the nature of the landscape, the availability of rights of way and a bias against road walking several walks are “there and back” along the same track.
