From the Avenues to Thearne along the River Hull

(10 miles)

24 January 2019. An East Riding Walk, interesting but not spectacular, on foot, apart from the bus ride back to Pearson’s Park.

We walked across Princes Avenue, then Pearson Park, onto Beverley Road, north to and then east along Beresford Ave, crossing the Green Lane and into Oak Road Playing Fields.

Over the Fields to the footpath along the west bank of the River Hull. We walked north to where the Wawne ferry over the River Hull used to be, west through Thearne to Beverley Road, then bus back to Pearson’s Park and home.

The walked distance was about 10 miles and it was a beautiful day. Points of interest include The Green Lane, aka Oak Road, Wawne ferry over the Hull, and the pleasant and industrious village of Thearne.
